You were sent this link and you're a CA voter

Look at all the information and fill out the petition completely.

YOU will be the signer AND Circulator of your petition. Download, print, sign, and mail it in.  Don't forget to add your County.  Don't cross out mistakes.  Write the correct answer next to your mistake. Or start a new petition.

SIGNATURE GATHERER

Is a person that is taking the petition around to gather signatures. They may also be stationary, at a table. Tabling/canvassing/signature gathering all refer to the same thing.

  • has to be 18 years or older
  • does NOT have to be a CA voter nor citizen

Example, if you collect from your neighbors you ask them to write down their name and address, with you filling out the rest, there is less chance of error.

Breakdown on what to fill in.

Official Top Funders Sheet

Every signer needs to see this

Then they can sign the petition. New CA law.

You can view on page 4.

Changes every month

The date may be more than a week off from your signature gathering time - it’s ok. If you don’t have the latest one, you can direct the signer to the link online to view. Then get the new one as soon as possible.

The petition has NO INVALID DATE.

You will see a link that goes to

The California Secretary of State website. This petition is listed as item 1947. The pdf link there will take you right back to the Official Top Funders sheet. You do not need to go the link in order to sign the petition.

SIGNATURE GATHERER

Print out page 4 each month when you canvass.

Write out complete name of County. No abbreviations.

#1 Signer must live in that County

#2 Must live in that County

It's okay if there is no #2 signer.  If the voter makes a mistake don't cross it out!  Have them write in the correct answer next to the mistake.

SIGNATURE GATHERER

It's okay if you do NOT live in the same county as #1 or #2. If #1 and #2 are in different counties then use two petitions. If you have another person #3 and they live in the same county as #1 then you can have them fill in the #2 signature space.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If they already have left and something looks wrong, DO NOT ALTER IN ANYWAY!! → Do not touch it. Let the Auditor decide if it is valid. If you know who #1, #2 are, tell them to resign and mail in.

If the voter makes a mistake don't have them cross it out as that makes it invalid.  Have them just write the correct answer next to their mistake.

Declaration of Circulator

Think of it as you are a witness

You are swearing in this box that you witnessed the signature of yourself, if you are filling it out on your own.

SIGNATURE GATHERER

You are swearing you showed the Top Funders Sheet and that you saw #1 (and#2) sign.

EVERY BLANK MUST be filled in

Full address - YES even if you wrote it in #1 or #2 above. Must include the state.  Don't forget to add the County! The first and last date can be the same or differetn.
